Stunning ring with double tier stone set
Characteristics & Facts About Topaz
Topaz are one of the hardest naturally occurring minerals, with a rating of 8 on the Mohs scale. They can be found in a range of colours, which is caused by impurities and various treatments.
Topaz can be found in red, yellow, blue, green & pink (as well as other colours and shades).
The blue topaz does occur naturally but is considered to be rarer than other colours. Usually a pale Topaz can be heat treated / irradiated in order to produce a deeper blue.
In 2001 the Mondaine Evo watch was released. This model features a more modern case design which is accompanied by a domed mineral glass and magnification effect.
Topaz can be found across many countries in the world (including Norway, Russia & Mexico) although Brazil produces the largest quantity of them.
Clear Topaz stones found in Brazil have been known to reach huge sizes (similar to that of a boulder) weighing multiple hundreds of pounds, or more.
As Topaz is less expensive than other stones it is a popular choice for rings, necklaces and chains.
Claw Re-Tip & Stone Resetting
Our jewellery workshop repaired the ring, which required 4 full length claws for the large middle topaz and a re-tipping for the 2 other tiers (diamonds). We have also re-set the large topaz and some of the smaller diamonds.
The ring weighs in at 5.8 grams in total, with a very large, intricate setting for the diamonds and topaz.
